Moon Dust Foundry ("we," "our," or "us") respects your privacy. This policy explains how information is handled in Inscape: Reflections Within for iOS.
Inscape does not require an Inscape account. Your name, monogram, raw Attunement answers, stored Mirrors, and Journal remain on your device. Inscape always creates a complete Reflection on your device before any Connected Synthesis request.
With your permission, when you're online and have Connected Synthesis Reflections remaining, Inscape sends the ideas it selected for each new Reflection through a secure service, where AI writes them into one fresh, connected Reflection. That request does not include your name, raw answers, Mirror history, Journal, or an Inscape account identifier. You can choose to receive complete Reflections composed entirely on your device instead.
What Inscape stores
- No Inscape account is required. You do not register, sign in, or provide an email address or phone number to use Inscape.
- Your personal Inscape history is stored on your device. The name you enter, your automatic monogram, raw Attunement answers, Wave values, Starting Mirror, Full Mirrors, and saved Journal Reflections are stored locally.
- Inscape does not include advertising or behavioural tracking. We do not use third-party advertising, cross-app tracking, or an analytics account tied to your identity.
- Subscriptions are handled by Apple. Inscape Pro purchases use Apple's StoreKit and the App Store. We do not receive or store your payment-card number or billing address.
Your Mirror and Journal
The personal history you build in Inscape remains on your device:
- Your name and monogram remain on your device.
- Your raw Quick and Full Attunement answers remain on your device.
- Your stored Wave values, Starting Mirror, and numbered Full Mirrors remain on your device.
- Your Journal and the Reflections you choose to keep remain on your device.
- Earlier Reflections and Mirror history are not sent as context for a new connected Reflection.
Inscape does not use an Inscape account or CloudKit synchronization. Information stored locally may be included in an Apple device backup if you have device backups enabled. Those backups are controlled by you and governed by Apple's services and terms.
Connected Synthesis
Inscape first selects the ideas for your Reflection on your device, based on your current Mirror, exact Focus, and chosen Perspective. It uses those ideas and writing directions to create a complete Reflection on your device before any connected request.
When Connected Synthesis is allowed, you're online, and you have Connected Synthesis Reflections remaining, Inscape sends those selected ideas and writing directions through Moon Dust Foundry's service, hosted by Netlify, to Anthropic's commercial API, where AI writes them into one fresh, connected Reflection.
Before the first Connected Synthesis request, Inscape asks for your permission. You can allow Connected Synthesis or choose to keep Reflections on your device. Keeping Reflections on your device still provides a complete Reflection. You can change this choice in Settings at any time. If you withdraw permission, future Reflections are composed entirely on your device unless you later allow Connected Synthesis again.
What is sent
A Connected Synthesis request includes:
- the selected Focus path and title;
- the names of the primary, supporting, and counterbalancing Perspectives;
- authored observation and possibility anchors;
- the selected central tension and counterweight;
- writing-style directions and prohibited claims.
What is never sent
The Connected Synthesis request does not include:
- your name or monogram;
- your raw Attunement answers;
- your stored Wave scores as a separate profile record;
- your Mirror history or Journal;
- earlier Reflections;
- a free-written personal story;
- StoreKit information or tracking identifiers;
- an Inscape account identifier, because Inscape has no account system.
How the request is handled
The Netlify-hosted proxy validates the request shape, sends it to Anthropic, validates the returned structure, and returns the accepted Reflection to the app.
Moon Dust Foundry does not intentionally log or retain the Reflection request or the generated response in that proxy, and keeps no separate customer database of them. Anthropic processes the request in order to write the optional connected Reflection, and Anthropic's handling and retention of that request and response are governed by its applicable commercial API terms. Netlify and Anthropic may process ordinary network metadata and request data under their own service terms and privacy practices.
Request limits and abuse prevention
To limit automated abuse and unexpected provider costs, the proxy applies request limits. For its daily abuse ceiling, it converts the connecting network address into a keyed value that changes each UTC day and stores only that value with an attempt count.
The counter does not include an Inscape account, Apple purchase information, device identifier, selected Reflection ideas, writing directions, or generated Reflection, and it is not used for advertising, analytics, or cross-day behavioural tracking. Netlify still receives the connecting network address as ordinary infrastructure data and may handle it under Netlify's own service terms and privacy practices.
If Connected Synthesis cannot complete
If the network, proxy, model provider, response validation, or time limit prevents Connected Synthesis from completing, Inscape uses the complete Reflection that was already composed locally from the same selected ideas and writing directions.
Services involved
- Apple. Apple distributes the app and processes Inscape Pro subscriptions through the App Store and StoreKit. Apple may provide the app with verified entitlement and transaction information needed to recognize access. Moon Dust Foundry does not receive your payment-card number or billing address. - Netlify. Netlify hosts this website and the serverless proxy used for Connected Synthesis. Netlify may process ordinary infrastructure information such as an IP address, device or browser information, request timing, and service logs under its own privacy policy. See the Netlify Privacy Policy.
- Anthropic. Anthropic's commercial API processes the selected Reflection ideas and writing directions and writes a proposed Reflection. Under Anthropic's published standard API policy, inputs and outputs are ordinarily deleted from its backend within 30 days, subject to Anthropic's stated legal, safety, contractual, and usage-policy exceptions. These providers maintain their own terms and privacy practices.
Keeping and deleting your data
Using Start Over in Inscape removes the name, Attunement answers, current profile, Starting Mirror, Full Mirrors, saved Journal Reflections, local free-use count, and Connected Synthesis permission choice from the app's local store on that device. Start Over does not cancel an Apple subscription.
Deleting Inscape removes its locally stored information from that device. Information may remain in an Apple device backup that you control. Moon Dust Foundry does not maintain an Inscape account or a separate copy of your locally stored Mirror and Journal, so we cannot recover that local history for you.
Connected Synthesis request data handled by Netlify and Anthropic is subject to those providers' operational, security, legal, and retention practices described above.
Children
Inscape is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children through an Inscape account because Inscape has no account system. A parent or guardian who believes a child has contacted Moon Dust Foundry or provided information through another channel may contact us using the address below.
Inscape is not medical care
Inscape is a tool for personal reflection and self-observation. It does not provide medical or mental-health advice, diagnosis, treatment, or emergency assistance, and it is not a substitute for care from a qualified professional. If you need urgent help, contact an appropriate local emergency or crisis service.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes, the updated version will appear on this page with a revised date at the top. Material changes to Inscape's handling of Connected Synthesis data will be reflected here.
