You answer a set of statements about how you currently see yourself, and Inscape forms a Mirror — five continuous positions rather than a type or a grade. Then you choose a part of life to bring into focus, and the angle you would like to start from. What comes back is a Reflection: a few paragraphs shaped by those choices. Your chosen angle leads, another view adds depth, and a counterbalance keeps the Reflection open.
Inscape does not diagnose, predict, prescribe, or claim to know what anyone else is thinking. It organises; you interpret. It follows your phone between its two appearances — a warm daylight one and a deep navy one — and it stays quiet in both.
It does not promise to explain you to yourself. It offers somewhere still to look, and leaves the meaning in your hands.

A profile sounds like a file assembled about you. A mirror only reflects what you put in front of it, on the day you did.
An Attunement is a set of statements about how you currently see yourself. There are no right answers and no ideal pattern. Your responses are scored on the device into five continuous Waves.

A Wave is a position, not a score. Neither end is the better place to be, and none of it is a grade.
A Mirror can be renewed whenever you like. When it is, the earlier one is kept rather than replaced, and Inscape says plainly whether a Wave held steady or moved — without inventing a new description of you to explain the difference.

Kept by choice
Two kinds of history, remembered in two different ways.
Every Attunement preserves its Mirror automatically, so a newer view never quietly erases the one before it.
Reflections are the opposite: one is saved only because you chose to keep it, and it can be removed again whenever you like.
Each kept Reflection stays tied to the exact Mirror that shaped it. Renew your Mirror a year from now and the older Reflection still shows the pattern it was written from, rather than being quietly rewritten to match whoever you have since become.
One action clears all of it. Start Over removes your name, your Attunement, every Mirror and every kept Reflection together.
What stays on your device
Your name, your answers, your Wave positions, your Mirror history and everything in your Journal are stored on your phone. There is no Inscape account, no sign-in and no cloud copy, and you are never asked to type out what happened.
With your permission, to put a Reflection into flowing prose, Inscape can send one bounded, structured plan to a language model: the part of life you selected, the three angles chosen for it, and the written material the app’s own engines picked. It does not send your name, your answers, your Wave positions, your Mirror history, your Journal, or anything you have kept. You can instead keep synthesis entirely on your device, change your choice in Settings, and still receive a complete Reflection.
Your device composes a complete Reflection before that request is made. If it fails, takes too long, or does not pass the app’s checks, you are given the one your phone already wrote. Either way the Reflection is whole, and it works with no connection at all.
Inscape is a tool for reflection. It is not therapy, not a diagnosis, not a prediction and not advice, and it is no substitute for talking to someone when you need to.

If a subscription lapses, your Mirrors and everything in your Journal stay readable, and nothing is hidden or downgraded.
